Former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam has urged his old club to sign Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong.

Frimpong has impressed for Leverkusen, particularly last season when they won the Premier League double, and has attracted interest from a number of teams across Europe, including Liverpool.
However, speculation has been mounting over Frimpong’s long-term future in recent months, with several top teams across European football known to be monitoring the Dutchman’s situation.

Stam said: “Jeremie Frimpong can play right wing-back as well as right winger and right-back.”
“He’s got pace and is very good at direct plays. He scores goals and creates chances for his teammates.”
“I think he would be a very interesting player for Manchester United to look at. He would suit the style of play on the right wing.”
“He has a lot of quality and is doing well in a tough league in Germany. I think he will fit perfectly into the system at United.”
Frimpong has a €40m (£34m) release in his current contract at BayArena, which runs through to the summer of 2028.
