This collaboration is an important opportunity to further develop tangible social work to improve the quality of life of people in the community. Before Khlong Toei, Bangkok, was selected as the research area for Harvard graduate students, GSD had previously conducted in-depth research in some areas in several countries, such as the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Throughout the project in Klong Toey community, lecturers and graduate students from Harvard GSD. Together with the working group from Muang Thai Insurance, have continuously visited Klong Toey community to study, analyze, and exchange ideas with relevant parties. Such as local residents and agencies that play an important role in caring for and developing the community.
In order to use the information received to develop and meet the needs of the community to the utmost. A total of 2 research papers, more than 26 projects, have been produced, reflecting concepts and perspectives in developing Klong Toey community in all aspects. Covering various dimensions, namely “Bangkok Porous City (เมืองพรูุ่น): New Landscape of Equity and Prosperity” and “Bangkok Remade:
New Bangkok”, focusing on solving problems in various issues. Such as resource distribution, housing development, waste management and separation, increasing green space, and creating public space to tangibly improve the quality of life of the community for everyone.
In addition, to make the research concepts tangible. Muang Thai Insurance and Harvard GSD have also applied some of the research concepts to real areas. Examples of projects that have been successfully implemented include the improvement and construction of a waste collection area in Wat Klong Toey Nai 2 and 3 communities to promote efficient waste management. Focusing on systematic waste separation to reduce flooding problems and germ accumulation sites.
The development of a multi-purpose sports field in Wat Klong Toey Nai 3 community to promote sports health so that children, youth, and people in the community can spend their free time wisely. Away from drug problems; and the improvement and development of a learning center and community shops in Wat Klong Toey Nai 2 community to support the creation of areas for occupations and serve as a center for various activities for people in the community.
Muang Thai Insurance realizes the value and power of education and research as an important mechanism that can create real changes in society. Therefore, we presented this research to Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, along with representatives from 6 leading universities in Thailand. We sincerely hope that the relevant agencies will use the knowledge and concepts from the research to further develop and apply them in their missions to drive the “Khlong Toey Dee Dee” concept into reality. .
